Our Mission Partners
Holy Trinity & Trendlewood want to establish effective partnerships with those engaged in mission both in the UK and abroad.
This means a commitment to support key partners in prayer, and in practical and financial ways, and to be open to the challenge to go ourselves, if God calls.
We see this as a mutual relationship that we hope is a blessing to our mission partners and to us as a local Christian community, as we allow our fellowship to be challenged and shaped by our involvement in God's mission to His world.
We have six key areas of work. Christian Surfers, Peter and Jayne Nott with CMS in Nazareth, Jenny Rodd with YWAM in Africa, Trevor Dean in Knowle West, Bristol, Philipe and Sarah Yanez with CMS in Spain, Mercy Ships, Uganda (including Nailsea Water Project). Scroll down for more information on each and links.

"At Christian Surfers UK we are a group of full-on surfers who are also committed Christians and we see God’s signature written all over his creation.
Our desire is to experience this amazing God for ourselves through a personal relationship with his son Jesus Christ. Our aim is therefore a simple one: to tell other surfers that they too can have a relationship with Jesus Christ."
Based in Nailsea, Christian Surfers run the annual Skate Festival in Millenium Park

Pete & Jane Nott:- Church Mission Society Partners in Nazareth. CMS is committed to evangelistic mission, working to see our world transformed by the love of Jesus. A major part of their work is to send out missionaries to all parts of the world and it is able to do this by linking these missionaries to supporting churches.
Peter and Jane say "We are 2 ex public sector workers who have reached mid-life. We hail from the sleepy back waters of North Somerset. We have a faith and a passion and this fuels our desire to move to and work in the middle east. It is a massive life change , a seismic shift. Please come on board and follow our journey."

Jenny Rodd (YWAM):-
Jenny says "Hello! I grew up in Nailsea as the eldest of four children and as part of Trendlewood Church, eventually being baptised at Holy Trinity after many years. I had an encounter with God at 17 that jump started my faith and but knew I was missing something! So at 18 I joined Youth With A Mission (YWAM).
I was part of YWAM Seamill until July 2010, during which time I served in and oversaw hospitality at the centre and organised and led discipleship training schools. I led teams to Norway, Morocco and around Scotland. I was part of teams that went to France, Turkey and China. The purpose is sharing God's love in appropriate and relevant expressions according to the culture and community.
During my time in Seamill, my desire to serve in Africa grew and in September 2010 I went to Tanzania to complete the Foundations of Community Development Course with YWAM. In working with YWAM my aim is to see communities help themselves, not depending on aid, but seeing and believing in their abilities and resources; developing not only spiritually, but physically and socially too. I love mentoring young women and working outside!
I’m currently seeking God as to how and where to continue to serve in Africa."

Trevor Dean - building Anglican Baptist partnership in Knowle West, Bristol
"Having worked as a GP in Knowle West for 15 years I was ordained in 2010 and now combine part-time medical work with ministry in this exciting but needy part of south Bristol. It is great to be part of what God is doing in building an Anglican Baptist partnership in Knowle West, and to see God’s people reaching out into this community.
It has also been a great privilege to be part of creating links between Holy Trinity Nailsea, where I serve as a self supporting curate, and Knowle West, as we develop this partnership. A recent alpha course run in Knowle West saw up to fifty people attending each week, including a group of willing helpers from Holy Trinity. It was a great example of the mutual blessing that can come from this sort of relationship between local Christian communities. We look to build the links over the coming year, that God would bring blessing in both contexts and glory to His name."

MISSION PARTNERSHIP with MERCY SHIPS
Representative: Ed Sheffield
UPDATE JAN 2012,. Mercy Ships is a global Christian charity that provides free medical care to patients in West Africa. A hospital ship, the Africa Mercy, crewed by volunteers, visits ports, where patients are treated on board after having been assessed for surgery at large medical screenings. I help run a pathology laboratory on board used to examine specimens taken from patients at the medical screenings and from surgery. Ruth and I visit medical screenings in West Africa; at other times I look at cases over the internet or they are sent to me. Thanks to all at Holy Trinity & Trendlewood for their interest and support. There is a focus on Mercy Ships this month (website: www.mercyships.org.uk).
POINTS FOR PRAYER:
· Mercy Ships is a Mission Partner with Holy Trinity; that this link would be effective and would develop successfully with good communication and that individuals are inspired to get involved themselves in this work; specifically for an individual to work on the Africa Mercy in 2012.
· The outreach in Togo next month. The patients that arrive safely and for the right decisions at screening and effective treatment. Ruth & I plan to visit Togo in February.
· For volunteers to enable the work to continue
· Finance, particularly in the context of present economic difficulties
· Safety with the large crowds at medical screenings
· Future strategy for the pathology work. I have been involved since 2004.
Individuals that Ruth and Ed know on board at the moment:
· Barry & Cheryl Wells from Bristol, working in dockside medical support work.
· Kirstie Randall from South Devon, working as a nurse.
· Keith & Fiona Tomson from Ascot: Keith is an anaesthetist.
Those who have recently returned to the UK:
· Farrell family (Cambridge): schools for their two sons
· Peet family (Sherborne): settling back in UK – Ollie has just started a new job.
There will be an open presentation evening about Mercy Ships at Ed & Ruth’s home, 14th January 2012 at 8.00 pm. Please let us know if you are coming, to give an idea of numbers. Thanks

Felipe and Sarah Yanez and their two young sons, Sam and Aaron, are serving in Southern Spain, jointly sponsored by CMS and SAMS (South American Mission Society).
Their main ministry is to the immigrants in the Malaga area, helping them to assimilate into Spanish culture and teaching skills to help them into employment. As relationships are built opportunities arise to share issues of faith and links are made to their local church which has a mainly immigrant congregation. They also have a hospitality ministry for missionaries (mostly South American) in transit or on respite holidays from their ministries in the Mediterranean region.

Uganda Water Project:-
In 2000, at the UN Millennium Summit, 189 world leaders set strategic goals for the overall objective of ending poverty. Goal 7 and target 3 is „Halving the proportion of the population without sustainable access to safe drinking water and basic sanitation.‟ Given the worldwide scale of this problem this goal can seem insurmountable.
However, the Nailsea/Uganda Water Project has set what it believes is an achievable goal in aiming to provide the funding for the infrastructure to supply fresh water to 12 villages and 4,000 people. The target funding is £90,000. The technical model for capturing, storing and supplying the water is tried and tested, and the work will be carried out through Tearfund, which has a proven track record in this field.
The project is being supported by all the Churches in Nailsea under the Churches Together group. In addition to tackling a Millennium Goal and transforming lives in Uganda, the project is designed to bring groups and individuals within our own community together. Presentations have been made to a number of groups in the Town and the Nailsea cluster of schools has expressed support. The next stage is to set up a town-wide coordinating group.
