Being a parent is one of life’s greatest joys, but it is also one of its biggest challenges. There’s hardly a mum or dad on the face of the earth who, at times, is not overawed by the task of parenting.
The problem with parenting is that normally by the time we get the hang of it – we’re redundant! Parenting is a mixture of highs and lows … and everything in between. It can bring some of life’s biggest joys, but also its greatest challenges. For most of us, a bit of encouragement and a reminder that we’re not alone can make a real difference.
We regularly run a special parenting course designed to help parents of young children become the best parents for their children. Our course is called Parentalk and has been design by Care for the Family, a national charity which aims to promote strong family life and to help those who face family difficulties.
Parentalk is for parents of children aged up to the early teenage years, giving you the opportunity to talk about the day-to-day challenges you face, as well as sharing the things that are going well.
The sessions are presented via videos which have interviews and talks from various experts and everyday parents.
The course at HT is run by Sharon Matthews, Children and Families Worker and parent of two, who has worked with parents and families in schools, children’s centres and churches. Sharon has facilitated this course a number of times and can personally vouch for its usefulness
You can read more about it at the Care for the Family website
