This is the SIX30 News!

Thursday 19 July 2018 Well, Wimbledon is over, the World Cup is over, but now we have the Golf Open Championship and the UK football season starts on 4 August, so no break from sporting events! Last Sunday at SIX30 Steve spoke on Galatians chapter 4:8-20. In this passage Paul continues to express his great…

New Vicar Licensed

After almost a year of praying and waiting, we are pleased that James Packman has been licensed as our new Rector. The service was held yesterday with Bishop Ruth and Archdeacon Adrian making sure all the necessary legal bits were said and signed. There was great worship led by the band. Bishop Ruth spoke about…

C is for Community …

… and also for Creativity. Engaging with the community is one of our core values, and Friday this week was a great day for it. In the morning one of our members, Adrianne Fitzpatrick, taught a ‘Writing for Children’ course at the Blue Room, a local arts and crafts shop run by Sharon Brown, a…

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade fortnight is nearly over, but God’s commitment to justice remains unchanged. The goods pictured can all be purchased regularly in our local supermarkets, and fairtrade bananas and wines are also readily available. Look out for the faitrade logo and do your bit towards a fairer world.

Another great night out with Café Create

Café Create felt like itself again with Steve Tilley back as compère and opening act. Maybe we should all go on three-month sabbaticals if it sets the creativity flowing like that! His Very Little Mystery held us spellbound as we pondered the physics of hyperspacing oranges and escapist labradors. New act Ethemia will definitely get…

‘Give a Gift’ Christmas Shop

The Christmas Shop is over but it was a great week. A Christian presence right there in the precinct. A reminder that Christmas is actually all about giving, not about getting. An opportunity for anyone in the community to share with others less fortunate than themselves. And a great family activity, with dressing up for…

Cafe Create Comedy Night

There was a great line-up tonight at Cafe Create, with Ian Macdonald, Heidi Regan and Rob Thomas (pictured). The Trinity Centre was packed, the kazoo theme tune (don’t ask) was amazing and the laughter must have been heard up the street. Excellent evening, and thanks as always to the team who make it all possible.

Great day of celebration

Today we celebrated Harvest, followed by the opening by Archdeacon Chris Hare of our beautiful new garden. The sun came out at just the right moment to illuminate children playing on the lawn and older people appreciating the benches, while autumn flowers bloomed bravely in the borders. The Archdeacon cut the ribbon and prayed a…

A great evening of entertainment

Those who looked at the weather on Friday evening and decided to stay at home missed out on a treat. Atlum Schema is no stranger to Café Create regulars, but this was the first time he had provided the entire programme for an evening, and he did not disappoint. His songs covered the whole range,…
