This is the SIX30 News!

Thursday 11 October 2018, A late autumn holiday mean there will be no SIX30 email for the next two weeks! Unless, that is, there is someone out there who would like to fill the gap. Just jot down a few items, some notes from the previous Sunday’s talk, some diary events and send off to…

Café Create

The atmosphere in the Trinity Centre ranged from warmly relaxed to vibrant and buzzing as the evening progressed. Acts in the first half included poems from Pete & Judy and four-and-a-half songs from Simon McSweeney, while headliners Vervain had every foot tapping and laughter flowing with the virtuosity of their performance after the interval. What…

New Vicar Licensed

After almost a year of praying and waiting, we are pleased that James Packman has been licensed as our new Rector. The service was held yesterday with Bishop Ruth and Archdeacon Adrian making sure all the necessary legal bits were said and signed. There was great worship led by the band. Bishop Ruth spoke about…

C is for Community …

… and also for Creativity. Engaging with the community is one of our core values, and Friday this week was a great day for it. In the morning one of our members, Adrianne Fitzpatrick, taught a ‘Writing for Children’ course at the Blue Room, a local arts and crafts shop run by Sharon Brown, a…

Fairtrade Fortnight

Fairtrade fortnight is nearly over, but God’s commitment to justice remains unchanged. The goods pictured can all be purchased regularly in our local supermarkets, and fairtrade bananas and wines are also readily available. Look out for the faitrade logo and do your bit towards a fairer world.

His Very Little Mystery held us spellbound as we pondered the physics of hyperspacing oranges and escapist labradors. New act Ethemia will definitely get…

‘Give a Gift’ Christmas Shop

The Christmas Shop is over but it was a great week. A Christian presence right there in the precinct. A reminder that Christmas is actually all about giving, not about getting. An opportunity for anyone in the community to share with others less fortunate than themselves. And a great family activity, with dressing up for…

Cafe Create Comedy Night

There was a great line-up tonight at Cafe Create, with Ian Macdonald, Heidi Regan and Rob Thomas (pictured). The Trinity Centre was packed, the kazoo theme tune (don’t ask) was amazing and the laughter must have been heard up the street. Excellent evening, and thanks as always to the team who make it all possible.

Great day of celebration

Today we celebrated Harvest, followed by the opening by Archdeacon Chris Hare of our beautiful new garden. The sun came out at just the right moment to illuminate children playing on the lawn and older people appreciating the benches, while autumn flowers bloomed bravely in the borders. The Archdeacon cut the ribbon and prayed a…
