Leaving a legacy to Holy Trinity

Leaving a legacy to Holy Trinity to make a real difference for future generations.

Leaving a gift in your Will to Holy Trinity is one of the most valuable and lasting ways you can continue to support its mission and ministry in your community.

Holy Trinity uses legacies for specific projects, either capital in nature or for specific outreach, training and other such projects. Full details of our formal legacy policy are here.

In previous years legacies have been used for:

  • our Trinity Project rebuilding project,
  • provision of new bibles in church,
  • creation of a youth and children
  •  fund to contribute to the costs of a Youth worker and Children and Families Worker and linked expenses,
  • a fund for worship and mission initiatives

All these have enabled past members of the Holy Trinity to continue to support the mission of their church they had been such a part of and to make a real difference for future generations.

No matter how large or small, each gift can make a significant impact on our mission and ministry, and maintaining our spiritual heritage.

Please consider how a gift in your Will could help the Church meet the needs of future generations.

Ron Taylor our treasurer will be very happy to discuss and answer any questions totally confidentially – treasurer@htnailsea.org.uk

Q  How might I divide up my estate?

A  When deciding how to divide up your estate, it may be appropriate to consider thinking in ‘percentages’ rather than specific cash amounts. This also reflects the Church’s teachings on proportionate giving and also keeps amounts updated for inflation.

Q  What are the tax implications?

A  All gifts to charities (including churches) in wills are tax-free. Gifts to your local church and other charities would be deducted from the value of your estate when inheritance tax is calculated.

Q  I am happy with my will, but I want to add a gift to my local church. What do I do?

A  Ask your solicitor or legal advisor to draw up a codicil – this is a simple legal addition to your existing will.

Q What is a Letter of Wishes?

A  A letter of wishes is a document that accompanies your will. It is not legally binding but can guide your executors and trustees to ensure your personal wishes are carried out.

Q How will my gift be used?

A  A legacy can be left to your local church for specific or general purposes. However, since needs change over the years, Holy Trinity encourage gifts to be left for the general purposes of the parish (unrestricted), rather than for a specific purpose (restricted). Our legacy policy (see here) is that at the time of receipt we identify a specific project for which the legacy will be used, so that family and friends can see the legacy will make a lasting difference to the mission of Holy Trinity.
