Cathy writes: “We have three grown – up children, two grandchildren and a Jack Russell called Ruby! We are both born and bred Bristolians. I am passionate about the local church, building community, and seeing people coming to to salvation, freedom, wholeness  and healing. I love helping people discovering their God given gifts and talents and be, in Jesus name, all they can be. I also enjoy watching films, eating out, camping, chatting and drinking cups of tea!”

Give thanks for:

Numbers continuing to grow at St Barnabas on a Sunday morning, as well as at other activities in the week.

Monthly Messy Church is going really well with one recent time when over 70 adults and children attended. Weekly coffee morning are growing too, often over 30 people attending. Both these missional activities make use of the mission support funding from HT.

Sam, the curate (pictured) and his wife, are leading a young adults group, and Sam is engaged in other new initiatives on the estate.

The Lee Abbey community and all they do on the estate.

Points for prayer:

Please pray for ongoing protection for Cathy and Steve in the vicarage, and protection over the building of St Barnabas Church. There has been a lot of difficulties from groups of young people especially.

The church at St Barnabas to continue to grow in numbers and depth of discipleship, that new people will take up responsibilities and that people will have boldness in sharing their faith. Pray for wisdom about the timing and resourcing of outreach activities like Alpha or similar.

Cafe church on a Wednesday evening – for members to grow in confidence in sharing the gospel with family and friends.

Resources to be found to sort out building issues at St Barnabas.

Pray for the Lee Abbey Community as the leaders, Ed & Aggy, and their two sons, move away when Aggy starts her curacy in the summer. Pray for new community members, and wisdom in finding a new community leader (advert will be going out soon). Ed & Aggy have been a major asset to St Barnabas and will be really missed.

More about Knowle West

Lee Abbey community in the heart of Knowle West. The Community have been in The Convent for over a year now.  Please pray for new people to hear God’s call to become community members.

The Inns Court Centre (Formally The Mede Community and Learning Centre) has rented out some of its rooms to the Bristol Children’s Centre. They have settled in very well, and they have a nice secure garden play area outside.  Further use of the building continues to be explored.

The Surgery continues to be challenged by changes in personnel and funding.  Please pray for God to bring in new doctors and other health professionals who can continue His work and bring good medical care to the people of Knowle West.  These are very challenging times for the NHS nationally and there are practices very local to us in crisis and at risk of closure, but we are trusting God to see us through, and He is faithful.  Thank you for your support and prayers.
