Holy Trinity has a long established link with Knowle West and works with the community there on various projects.

Cathy writes: “We have three grown – up children, two grandchildren and a Jack Russell called Ruby! We are both born and bred Bristolians. I am passionate about the local church, building community, and seeing people coming to to salvation, freedom, wholeness  and healing. I love helping people discovering their God given gifts and talents and be, in Jesus name, all they can be. I also enjoy watching films, eating out, camping, chatting and drinking cups of tea!”

Thank you for praying for Knowle West.

Filwood Park Parish vicar, Cathy Gardener, is doing well and fully mobile these days having recovered from her knee operations. She has been joined by curate Sam, who with his wife Rachel, has just moved onto the estate and into the old vicarage of Holy Cross Church. Pray for the Lord to watch over them, guard their homes and bless their ministries on the estate.

Sundays at St Barnabas are going well with steadily increasing numbers attending. Give thanks that new people feel welcome, and existing members feel loved and valued. Please pray for a strengthening of discipleship and confidence in the Lord, and the deepening of friendships and the sense of family in the Church.

Messy Church has restarted after the summer break and is well attended. Please pray for more opportunities to share faith with families especially with Christmas approaching.

A weekly coffee and chat morning sees new people joining and is a place of support and welcome and Cafe Church continues to meet on Wednesday evening. Pray for plans for a new alpha course and please pray for wisdom in how to reach out to the people of the estate with God’s love in Jesus and to see people coming to faith.

There are no longer afternoon services at Holy Cross on Sundays, and a real prayer need is to be able to discern what church should look like at that end of the estate. One idea has been to open a shop selling good quality children’s clothes, and to be a place where local people can pop in for a coffee and a chat. Please pray for wisdom!

Finally, please pray for the medical practice on the estate, that it will continue to develop and flourish under new leadership, providing the best care possible to an area of high health need.

More about Knowle West

Lee Abbey community in the heart of Knowle West. The Community have been in The Convent for over a year now.  Please pray for new people to hear God’s call to become community members.

The Inns Court Centre (Formally The Mede Community and Learning Centre) has rented out some of its rooms to the Bristol Children’s Centre. They have settled in very well, and they have a nice secure garden play area outside.  Further use of the building continues to be explored.

The Surgery continues to be challenged by changes in personnel and funding.  Please pray for God to bring in new doctors and other health professionals who can continue His work and bring good medical care to the people of Knowle West.  These are very challenging times for the NHS nationally and there are practices very local to us in crisis and at risk of closure, but we are trusting God to see us through, and He is faithful.  Thank you for your support and prayers.
